RTICC Announce Seed Funding Winners for the "RNA in Cancer" Initiative

RNA biology is rapidly transforming our understanding of cancer pathogenesis, diagnostics, and therapeutics.

Congratulations to the RTICC members who received the seed funding to foster interdisciplinary collaborations and advance breakthrough RNA Research in Cancer.

The Rappaport Cancer Research Center (RTICC) has selected the winners of the 2026 "RNA in Cancer" call for proposals. Each winning project will receive $25,000 in seed funding to explore bold, high-risk/high-reward scientific ideas bridging different disciplines, advancing cancer research in the field of RNA biology.

RNA biology is rapidly transforming our understanding of cancer pathogenesis, diagnostics, and therapeutics. To capitalize on this paradigm shift and foster a collaborative scientific community, the RTICC issued a call for proposals uniting researchers from life sciences, medicine, chemical engineering, and exact sciences to broadly advance high-impact RNA research in cancer.

We are proud to announce the selected collaborative projects and congratulate the winning Principal Investigators from across Technion faculties:

Prof. Yael Mandel-Gutfeund, (Faculty of Biology) & Asst. Prof. Gilad Barshad, (Rappaport Faculty of Medicine):
"Studying the role of the putative DNA and RNA binding protein RBM25 as a transcription regulator of cell cycle and proliferation and its miss-regulation in cancer”.

Prof. Nabieh Ayoub (Faculty of Biology) & Asst. Prof. Dan Bracha (Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering) :
"Deciphering how RNA-dependent RBM15 condensates drive replication stress and genome instability in cancer”.

Prof. Marcelle Machluf (Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Engineering) & Asst. Prof. Assaf Zinger (Faculty of Chemical Engineering) :
