5-6 research proposals will be selected, each receiving ~$25,000 in funding

The Rappaport Cancer Research Center (RTICC) is pleased to announce a new Call for Proposals under the "RNA in Cancer" Initiative. Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary collaborations bridging life sciences, medicine, chemistry, engineering, and exact sciences to advance RNA research in cancer.

The "RNA in Cancer" Initiative is bringing together Technion researchers from all disciplines- biology, medicine, chemistry, engineering, and exact sciences - fostering a collaborative community dedicated to advancing RNA research in cancer. Headed by Prof. Motti Choder and Asst. Prof. Boris Slobodin (Rappaport Faculty of Medicine), and Assoc. Prof. Ayala Shiber (Faculty of Biology), the initiative is initially operating as an internal Technion hub, with plans to expand the collaboration through a partnership with the “Giuliani RNA Center” at Brown University in Providence, RI.

The newly launched seed grant program is designed to support high-risk, high-reward collaborative ventures led jointly by Technion principal investigators and clinician-scientists.

As part of this initiative, 5-6 research proposals will be selected, each receiving ~$25,000 in funding for a period of one year.

This funding opportunity represents a major milestone for the initiative, which was officially launched on May 19, 2026, at a kick-off event at the Technion Visitors Center. That gathering united researchers from various Technion faculties, laying the groundwork for a dynamic, multidisciplinary scientific community dedicated to exploring the frontiers of RNA biology in cancer research.
