FACULTY
Researchers
Peleg Hasson, PhD, Associate Professor
The Hasson Lab focuses on understanding the extracellular matrix (ECM) as an active, dynamic component that regulates key cellular processes, tissue patterning, and morphogenesis in development, health, and disease.
Investigating the crosstalk between connective tissue resident cells and their surrounding microenvironment, the lab utilizes mouse genetics, in vivo models, cell cultures, and computational bioinformatics and image analysis tools. Key research areas include exploring fibroblast heterogeneity during embryonic muscle development, examining cellular and molecular mechanisms at the myotendinous junction (MTJ), and uncovering broad ECM remodeling in the cardiovascular system through cellular-lineage targeting of Lysyl oxidase (LOX).
Leveraging these insights into the machinery governing ECM assembly and stress-induced tissue remodeling, the lab strives to develop novel therapeutic strategies for fibrotic pathologies and related conditions.
