ABOUT

Rappaport-Technion Research Program

In July 2023, a transformative initiative took place at the RTICC. The Rappaport Foundation and the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology united forces to establish the 10-year cancer research program of the RTICC.

The Rappaport-Technion Research Program is a cornerstone initiative, designed to propel cancer research through strategic investments in faculty recruitment, cutting-edge equipment, and state-of-the-art infrastructure. By funding fellowships that foster collaboration across disciplines, this program empowers researchers to push the boundaries of innovation in cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Additionally, the program supports conferences and seminars, creating a vibrant hub for knowledge exchange. Through these comprehensive efforts, the Rappaport-Technion Research Program plays a pivotal role in advancing breakthroughs that transform cancer care worldwide.

The RTICC is deeply committed to faculty recruitment, recognizing that our talented and established faculty are our institution's most valuable asset. We are actively seeking accomplished cancer researchers from diverse disciplines who are driven to make a meaningful impact on cancer research. Opportunities are available at all academic ranks—assistant, associate, and full professor—for candidates who demonstrate individual excellence, teamwork, and leadership potential. New recruits will lead independent research groups, contribute to teaching and mentoring, and can benefit from joint appointments with other Technion faculties to encourage interdisciplinary collaboration. The RTICC offers a generous start-up package, state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, and cutting-edge research infrastructure to support faculty success.

The RTICC is dedicated to advancing cancer research through substantial investment in cutting-edge equipment and continuous improvement of the Technion’s core facilities. Each year the RTICC allocates around 2M$ towards acquiring the most advanced technologies. By that, we ensure that our researchers have access to the tools necessary to conduct pioneering studies in cancer biology, diagnostics, and treatment. Our state-of-the-art facilities are designed to support a wide range of research activities, from molecular and cellular analysis to advanced imaging, computational modeling and more. This commitment to maintaining world-class research infrastructure allows our scientists to push the boundaries of innovation and drive breakthroughs in cancer research.

The RTICC supports the next generation of cancer researchers by offering prestigious fellowships for graduate students and post-docs engaged in multidisciplinary cancer research. These fellowships are designed to foster collaboration as recipients are co-supervised by mentors from various Technion faculties. This approach not only broadens the scientific perspective of our fellows but also enhances the scope and impact of their research. By working across disciplines, the fellows gain access to a diverse range of expertise, tools, and methodologies, empowering them to tackle complex challenges in cancer research. This collaborative environment accelerates scientific discovery and strengthens the fellows' academic and professional development.

The RTICC actively fosters a vibrant scientific community by hosting a wide range of seminars and events that promote knowledge exchange and collaboration. These include international guest seminars, forums that bring together researchers and clinicians, exclusive scientific brunches for students, as well as larger conferences and symposiums. These events provide valuable opportunities for networking, learning about the latest advancements in cancer research, and discussing innovative ideas. By facilitating interactions between scientists, clinicians, and students, the RTICC enhances interdisciplinary collaboration and drives the development of groundbreaking cancer research initiatives.
