Our research focuses on the role of the blood-brain barrier in affecting brain metabolism during development. We found that several aspects of the metabolism in developing neurons and glial cells are similar to those in cancer cells, particularly their addiction to serine and glutamine. This similarity and our involvement with the Technion metabolomics center drive our interest in cancer cell metabolism.
