Ben-Chetrit Lab

Dr. Nir Ben-Chetrit is a Principal Investigator in the Department of Radiation Oncology at Weill Cornell Medicine. His laboratory investigates fundamental principles in tumor immunology, with a primary focus on how tumor-associated macrophages (TAMs) and stromal components influence immune responses in solid tumors of human cancers. Bridging clinical and basic research, his work focuses on developing novel interventions that harness innate immunity through macrophage reprogramming and convert radiotherapy into personalized cancer vaccines.

The lab integrates spatial and molecular profiling of biospecimens from clinical trials with mechanistic studies in preclinical models. To advance these efforts, the team develops high-throughput technologies, including scalable tumor microenvironment platforms, spatial multi-omics, and functional CRISPR-based screens to uncover therapeutic vulnerabilities and inform the rational design of combination immunotherapies. Dr. Ben-Chetrit’s research is highly translational and collaborative, with a primary focus on metastatic breast cancer and broader relevance across solid tumors.
