"Identifying the role of nervous system in Melanoma arising outside the CNS"
Recent studies by our group and others have demonstrated that cancer and the nervous system bear a close, entangled relationship. Melanoma-infiltrating nerves affect tumor progression, but the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying these findings remain poorly understood. Nerves signal to other cell types via neuropeptide receptors.
We found the expression of specific neuropeptide receptors (RAMP1 and PAC1) present within melanoma tumors associated with increased risk of death. We are defining their mechanistic and therapeutic significance in melanoma. Our data suggest them as promising therapeutic targets to obtain anti-melanoma responses.
The RTICC aspires to become a leading center, attracting top-tier researchers renowned both nationally and internationally for their contributions to cancer research in various fields.
A key objective is to foster collaborations, and engage with leading scientists, all with the aim of advancing cancer treatment and improving patient outcomes. Therefore, we host the RTICC International Guest Seminar, which is delivered by acclaimed expert academic speakers.
